Database Administrator
The role of Database Administrator ensures that the system and application infrastructure handles diverse sources of data seamlessly, understands data analysis, end-user requirements analysis, and business requirements analysis to develop a clear understanding of the business needs and to incorporate these needs into technical solutions. This role will ensure data pipelines are scalable, repeatable, and secure, and can serve multiple business units within the organization. Facilitate data collection and movement between a variety of different sources, analyze data from the various sources and produce meaningful reports and/or presentations.
This position has the following responsibilities:
- Oracle database and RAC installations and configurations using Dataguard replication.
- Database administration for Lab and Production application databases.
- Maintain Lab and Production application databases through upgrade and patching process.
- Perform Lab and Production database back-ups and recoveries.
- Write and edit automated jobs that import and export data between systems.
- Provide detailed analysis, design, tuning, testing, implementation and documentation of the business intelligence system and data warehouse.
- Provide expertise in writing and editing queries that read, manipulate, and analyze data from business intelligence, relational databases, and data warehouses.
- Responsible for business intelligence quality testing, stakeholder approval and user acceptance testing.
- Create tables and write reports on your findings, validating data output through SQL and simplify highly technical language for end users in the company.
- Translate business requirements into system and application requirements and assess where support is needed relative to existing technical system design.
- Participate in creating strategies and roadmaps for business intelligence and data platforms.
- Ability to learn and utilize programs to analyze data from different sources and produce meaningful reports and/or presentations.
- Contribute to the development of standards and processes for integration projects and initiatives.
- Work with other developers and DBAs to make sure that all data solutions are consistent.
- Create data flow diagrams and data catalogs for data management systems.
- Work with other development teams to review and implement database changes according to database design standards and principles.
- Resolve conflicts between models, ensuring that data models are consistent with the ecosystem model (e.g., entity names, relationships, and definitions).
- Code, test, and document new or modified data systems to create robust and scalable applications for data analytics.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience creating reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) writing complex stored procedures and functions. Experience with Tableau or Power BI a plus.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Oracle database systems.
- Advanced level of programming knowledge (reporting code) and of relational databases, database structures and design, systems design, data management, data warehouse a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of data modeling and understanding of different data structures and their benefits and limitations under particular use cases.
- Proven experience working hands-on with big data systems.
- Experience with monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery of data systems.
- Experience with DataGuard and cross-site data replication, synchronization, and recovery.
- Experience with database cross-site failovers.
- Substantial knowledge of C++, Linux, Java, Python, VMware, Solaris, or comparable scripting languages.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications Suite and SharePoint.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management.

- Familiarity with ITIL standards, Number Portability, Telecommunications is a plus.
