Telephone Number Portability Convenience And Flexiblity Leads To High Consumer Adoption Rates In Peru

During the last two years, more than 2 million Peruvian telephone numbers have been ported smoothly using the company’s convenient portability services, in which its database administration is managed by the company.

In 2010, Peruvians were first to offer mobile number portability options in the mobile phone service industry. In July 2014, number portability service began for fixed-line services. In March 2014, iconectiv entered into a contract with the Peruvian telecommunications industry to implement and manage a number portability service that allows mobile and fixed-line subscribers – with the new regulations stablished by the Private Telecommunication Investment Regulator Entity (OSIPTEL) – to port their telephone number within 24 hours. Since then, the Peruvian telecommunications industry has continued to experience dynamic growth in number portability usage by the Peruvian subscribers, with portability rates doubling since portability services launched in July 2014.
