Protect Your Customers from One-Ring Scams: Trusted Tools to Fight Fraud

For illegal robocallers, the goal isn't always getting you to answer. Sometimes, it's getting you to call back. One-Ring, also known as “Wangiri” is a global scourge that costs $1.82 billion annually, making it one of the top five fraud types according to reports from Communications Fraud Control Association. It targets unassuming victims by intentionally hanging up after one ring, hoping they will call back. If they do, the call is charged at a premium rate, usually equivalent to an international toll call even if the number appears local.

In this session, iconectiv’s Juan Carlos Ortiz, Principal for Corporate Business Development, will explore the implications of Wangiri scams and how to best block and identify calls to reduce fraud and participate in a live Q&A session moderated by Conecta’s Raquel Freitas. Ortiz will also highlight how iconectiv’s TruNumber Protect gives telephone companies a simple, seamless and secure way to identify calls from high-risk and unallocated number ranges, and suspicious premium-rate numbers, before they reach customers.
