Plugging the $29bn Telecom Fraud Hole
Webinar highlights global problem, outlines new measures to combat fraudsters
BRIDGEWATER, NJ – October 18, 2018 – A study by the Communications Fraud Control Association estimates that service providers lose some $29bn annually to fraudsters. Not only is the revenue loss per service provider significant, it is further compounded by the collateral damage it does to brand value and loyalty and its impact on consumer trust.
On October 24, 2018, Vanilla Plus will host a free webinar ‘Outsmarting the fraudsters’ that will address this growing problem. Peter Ford, Regional Vice President, EMEA and John Haraburda, Principal Solutions Engineer Director, from telecom specialist iconectiv, will join VanillaPlus Managing Editor George Malim to discuss the newest tactics by fraudsters and the latest techniques that service providers can use to mitigate against it.
According to iconectiv, the ideal approach is a combination of proactive and reactive techniques. The financial, operational and reputational impact from fraud can be drastically reduced if service providers and enterprises do more than just react after it happens. In addition to blocking blacklisted numbers associated with revenue share fraud, a proactive stance helps identify and thwart fraud attempts before they occur.
“Fraudsters are constantly finding new ways to target service providers and their customers, leaving telecom fraud managers with the difficult job of constantly identifying and stopping threats as they emerge,” said Ford. “Fortunately, there are ways to optimize the detection and prevention process in order to preserve and protect a service provider’s reputation, service quality, bottom line and most importantly its customers.”
