Lessons Learned Building a Career in STEM

Growing up in the 1970s, STEM – in my case engineering and computer science – wasn’t a field women typically pursued. So when I showed up at Virginia Tech it was no surprise that I was one of the only women in my mechanical engineering class. Later on, at Boston University working on my Master’s Degree in computer science, the picture wasn’t much different. Although things have changed over the past decades, there’s certainly room for improvement.
