International Conference Addresses Telecom’s $29B Global Fraud Problem

iconectiv to join panel on preventative techniques to stop network fraud

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – September 6, 2018 -- iconectiv, an authoritative partner of the global communications industry connecting more than two billion people every day, will be presenting at the Risk & Assurance Group (RAG) Conference in Nairobi, Kenya on September 12. John Haraburda, Principal Solutions Engineer, iconectiv, will join a panel of experts to discuss the latest techniques and insights that service providers can use to mitigate today’s growing fraud problem.

Global network fraud can have a devastating impact throughout the entire communications ecosystem, from service providers and consumers to businesses and governments. According to a recent global fraud survey by the Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA), $29 billion (USD) is lost annually with a large percentage of activity occurring in Africa (7.6%). This can lead to a loss of revenue not only for service providers, but for consumers and a number of different commercial markets as well.

“Telecom fraudsters consistently adapt and find new ways to target networks, which is why service providers must always take a proactive approach to identify and stop threats as they emerge,” said John Harraburda, Principal Solutions Engineer, iconectiv. “A lot is at stake, including their reputation and service quality, which can ultimately lead to customer churn if not handled appropriately.”

The RAG Conference will be held in Nairobi on September 11-12, 2018 and include presentations and panel discussions about modern telecoms risk management and business assurance.
