Leading analyst house IDC reports that every year a significant percentage of a service provider’s CapEx is wasted due to poor planning and inefficient use of equipment. In its white paper, Improving Opex and Capex Effectiveness Through Fixed Asset Management in Telecom Operators, IDC indicates service providers that closely focus on Fixed Asset Management (FAM) solutions can improve financial planning and reporting, more accurately track capital investments and be better positioned to deliver new digital services.
Companies that view FAM as an essential enabler of digital transformation (DX) initiatives, including 5G and IoT, are able to drive operational efficiency and maximize the value of technology systems and services investments. This is possible because FAM solutions allow service providers to describe their assets in an effective way and share that view across systems and organizations.
To make the transition to a digital-focused mindset, operators need to register and track both tangible and intangible network assets accurately. IDC assessed the iconectiv TruOps Common Language solution and presented it as a viable option to help service providers avoid many of the pitfalls that arise because of incomplete or inaccurate asset management information.
